Why they do what they do

My parents are with Wycliffe Bible Translators, which is how I had the privilege of growing up as a Missionary Kid, or MK. There are definite sacrifices involved in the missionary life, but there are some incredible benefits as well. One of those is the end goal: seeing hearts and lives and cultures transformed by having the word of God in their own language. The below video shows some translators who realized that goal earlier this month.

I knew them growing up – she taught me how to ride and care for horses, he played Saturday morning volleyball with my dad where I was a faithful spectator, their son was friends with my older brother. For a while they chaperoned our youth group. When I lived down South after college, I saw them a few times, but I’d lost contact with them in the five years since I moved north. So finding this video on a friend’s blog and realizing that they had reached that goal, seen that awesome God-blessed achievement to all their years of hard work, it made me tear up. And grin. And want to share. So here it is:
