Window News

There was a notice from the managers of my apartment complex posted on the main exit door from my building yesterday. It says that a contractor will be coming to replace the bedroom windows in all the apartments on my side of the building, including mine.

This is good news, because when it is below freezing outside there is often an 8 to 10 degree temperature difference between my bedroom and where the thermostat is in the “hall,” the window is that thermically leaky. It is single pane and the gasket is old and I’m pretty sure doesn’t seal correctly anymore.

This is also not-so-good news, because it means that someone will be coming into my apartment, so I will have to clean it. Especially my bedroom, since that is where they will be working (at least I won’t have to clean the bathroom.) There is… a fair amount of cleaning that needs to happen.

The good news is that the notice said the window replacement won’t be happening until January 12th, so that means that I have several days to clean.

The not-so-good news is that this is me we’re talking about, so I’ll probably end up shoving things in the closets on the night of the 11th. 🙂

But, really, I am looking forward to having a warmer bedroom when it is so very cold outside. I am wondering what sort of window it will be, though, because the current one has three big panes of glass, which are wonderful for taking pictures like these out of:

pink and peach sunrise through winterbare trees

sun coming up to blue skies with scattered clouds

So I’m hoping the new one won’t have too much to get in the way of my picture taking, but I’m sure I’ll find a way to work around it, whatever I end up with.

Feel your pain with the cleaning. It took me two days to clean my house last week and it was a very unpleasant experience although quite rewarding . . . at the end.

Sounds like good motivation to get a job done that you’ve put off. Just do it! Yes, you can! It will be so nice for you to have a warm and inviting bedroom to come home to! If I lived closer, I’d come and help you. Just think of the wonderful results to get you motivated. Lots of Love!
