Thankful Thursday 2-5-15

February is here already, 2015 is cruising along. I’m feeling a bit scattered at the moment, so while I did start my list early this week so that part is well-developed, I don’t really have a neat opening paragraph. It’s been a rather variable week – from bored to over-busy, from very cold to warm-ish, from by myself to having visitors, from happy to sad, and back again for all of them. I suppose it’s just life, but not all weeks contain such a range (especially in the case of visitors, at least for me.)

To spare you from my ramblings, and my brain from more pummeling, here is the list of things I have found to be thankful for this week:

  • left turn arrows – well, protected cross-traffic turns in general, they are much less nerve-wracking for me than the non-protected sort
  • the calming power of deep breaths

Bare trees against a bright blue sky

    Winterbare trees, Maine

  • an extended weekend visit from my parents – so good to see them again after nearly seven months, even if the visit was on short enough notice that I didn’t manage to clean my apartment as much as I may have liked. Thankfully, there were some clean bits left from when I cleaned for the window repairmen and my parents are gracious. 🙂
  • finally finding a workaround for my broken feedreader that helps me keep updated on all the blogs I enjoy. It had been down for a month. Now for the catching up…
  • Reese’s peanut butter cups, especially the miniature ones, as I feel they have a better chocolate-to-peanut-butter ratio (there are currently some set out in a little bowl on the desk of my department’s administrative assistant, though less than there were.)
  • bumping into a high school friend on the internet I’d lost touch with years ago – having gone to high school where I did, my friends wound up scattered far and wide. I am very grateful for those I’ve managed to keep in contact with, but I lost some along the way. It was quite a moment when it clicked in my head who this blogger who’d liked my About page was. 😀

And there are more, I’m sure, but I’m stopping there for now. Here’s to working traffic signals, renewed contact with family and old friends, and tiny chocolate peanut-buttery nuggets of goodness. Have you had any of the above in your week? Or anything else you’re thankful for? Please do share!

[Edit: apparently I forgot to put a title on this post when I published it – so much for proofreading 😛 If you follow me by email, that’s the reason for the funny title on what you received. Corrected now.]

  1. Very glad to have found you again too! I can’t believe it’s been 11 1/2 years since we last saw each other! Makes me feel old…

Reese’s peanut butter cups are my only candy weakness. At least the peanut butter is somewhat healthy! I’m thankful for my vast extended family, especially my prayer partners Wendy and Susanna!

So glad to hear you got to spend time with your folks! We had a good week. I spent some time with my dad in Denver on Wednesday and was able to help him with some stuff. Sarah is at camp this weekend, so Jesse and I are going skiing together. Yes, ups and dowas are the cycle of life. Sometimes it cycles faster than others. Love You!
