Thankful Thursday

So… this turned out to be a bit of a rough week. I made an unwise decision over the weekend (it was a good book that I hadn’t read before, but I should not have decided to finish it instead of sleeping… and, yes, I do know better by now…) which created a domino effect with my sleep cycle for the first half of the week.

I did, however, manage to get some of the mountain of dishes done on Monday evening and the laundry done on Tuesday evening and more dishes Wednesday. (I figure as long as I wash a few more dishes than I use every day, then eventually the pile will be gone and my kitchen will be clean… it’s just gonna take me a while to get there.) Then yesterday morning, Wednesday, the main road on my route to work was closed because of a horrible crash and so I had to drive the long way around which made me half an hour later than I already was going to be. (Yes, I did call and let the admin. assistant know.) Plus, I didn’t get any of the photo sorting done that I wanted to over the last five days, hence the placeholder below, and my fishtank really needs cleaned…

In spite of all that, though, I still have things to be thankful for. Things like:

The Day Lilies are out in strength right now

The Day Lilies are out in strength right now

  • grace
  • beauty – I found it this week in clouds, in flowers, in caring friends
  • people that are patient with me
  • laundry machines
  • that aforementioned laundry machines are only one flight of stairs away
  • spaghetti sauce I had frozen, so I didn’t have to think up a meal when I was tired
  • renewed contact with friends from long ago and far away

Did you have a rough week too? Have you found anything to be thankful for in spite of it that you wouldn’t mind sharing?

Hey Ruth. Don’t worry about the stressful week, we all have them. I too have been SOOO blessed by our EduVenture class reuniting. Especially by Heather’s, that was something that just killed me inside for years now. 😦 Praise God for his redeeming grace. 🙂

I am also thank full that we now have Broccoli to eat from the garden and not just swiss chard. 🙂 SOON we will have tomatoes, Ryan thinks we will have cherry tomatoes by July 4th. I am also thankful for our beehive that we recently got. I look forward to eat our own honey and having my own beeswax for things that I make.

We are really looking forward to you coming to visit. Maybe 4th of July weekend? It’s a longer one which would be nice to have more time together. 🙂 Let us know soon. Blessings to you today and be a blessing to those around you.
    Love,
    Siobhan (Hannah)

  2. Thankful list:
    – Thankful for computers and technology, even if they don’t work properly all the time. When they do work, keeping in touch is so much easier.
    – Thankful there are several different restaurants to chose from when we want to go out to dinner. We even have ‘take-out’ somewhat. ….(Dad has to drive to the bottom of the hill and buy it from the stand there, then bring it home.) 🙂
    – Thankful for fans, even a small wind blowing makes the hot/ humid better.
    – Thankful for our children that they are all following the Lord Jesus Christ, and have a vital relationship with Him.
    – So very thankful for the husband God has given me for the last 38 years! Life has been an adventure and continues to amaze me.

[As I was typing this the power went out, then on, then off, eventually back on – but I had lost the internet connection.]

    Love you!

Hey Roo! I miss you and hearing you share all of this with me in person. 🙂 I’m thankful for some things this week too: free Redbox movies that we got over the weekend, long walks in the summer breeze, reminders of grace, good health, the little tomatoes growing in my garden.

Today, a special thankful item…a surprise visit from a close friend from PNG! Just a couple hours, but how fun! 🙂
